Propellerheads Reason' Kong Drum Designer

Shout out to Propellerheads for pulling this off. “Go big or go home” says some guy in the video and I couldn’t agree more. I wish they’d do something like this where I live.

HTDA

HTDA’s first EP is released today for free. So far it’s interesting listening not sure if it’ll grow on me. Has a huge similar sound of Nine Inch Nails. And if you didn’t know the same guy from NIN is in HTDA, could explain the similarities.

Grab the free HTDA’s 6-Track EP here.

I’ve been wanting to post on this site about my update to this site but it’s taking way longer than I thought. What should I post on then? was the question for quite a while. Sometimes I find it hard to post here because I want the things I talk about to be something I care about. With that thought it reminded me that I should talk about some of my influences which is exactly what I’m about to share with you.

Naked Music is pretty much where I found my love for Deep House music. Their style, attitude and vibe is what I love and I recommend checking out all their releases. It’s the perfect music to chill out to but danceable if you crank it. Nobody does it quite like them.

If you have been paying a attention to what has been going on for the iPad since its release it has been quite interesting how fast things are being develop for it. It seems on many websites there is a new video posted about someone showcasing new software for the iPad.

In my last iPad related post I mentioned an App called TouchOSC and just like I thought it’s doing exactly what I thought but unfortunately it appears there isn’t a native iPad version yet. But from what I’ve seen it seems to be working quiet well on the iPad.

Another App that has caught my eye is called MIDIPad. I’m not sure if it is as customizable as TouchOSC or Jazzmutant Lemur but it looks promising.

I know I am barley scratching the surface on the topic and there are probably a lot more amazing Apps I don’t know about that are aspiring to do what the Jazzmutant Lemur does. We have to look what has Jazzmutant done since the introduction of Apple iPad. To be honest not too much other than the introduction of the software called ‘Mu’. What ‘Mu’ does is be Ableton Live controller for the Lemur.

If you watch all the videos you can tell that Mu for the Lemur is the most polished piece of software. It’s just a matter of time software for the iPad gets as good or better than Mu. So I still feel Jazzmutant will be forced into becoming a software company or at least provide a cheaper hardware model for their software.

Look at what other options you have with iPad over the Lemur with all these digital synthesizers, drum machine software, rebirth, to even DAWs a lot of cool things are happening and with PC Tablets on the way too, the options will become even greater. I think it’s safe to say I much rather just own all of them so I don’t have to choose.

Korg’s first new analog synthesizer in over 20 years and it’s awesome. Korg Monotron. With ribbon control, not over sized for no reason and under $100. Should be coming to North America later this year and I can see myself getting one of these. Check out this youtube video of this dude from Japan making a decent song with only using the Monotron.

Update/Edit: Some cool modded Monotrons!

I can’t get enough of these songs. Someone on my twitter posted one of the videos and ended up finding all of them. There is tons of remixes and check out what some of the other videos from Carl Sagan. Interesting guy to listen to.

The Grammys = the old guard / old media propping up their puppets trying to convince the outside world (and each other) they’re relevant.
-Trent Reznor

Trent posted this on his twitter account when he was at the Grammy Awards and I 100% agree with this. I never cared about the Grammys but my interest was sparked a bit when they added the category Best Electronic/Dance Album. I am happy that Basement Jaxx and The Chemical Brothers won in the past but look at the rest of the nominations with live albums and compilations. What the hell is this shit.

To say the Grammys are a reflection of music today is akin to saying what airs on NBC defines America. It doesn’t.
