Soulfrost's Shop

I have been working on this for quite a long time it wasn’t until recently it started to get to the point I was happy with it. So I welcome you to my new web shop!

A few things you can expect from it is prints and music (physical and digital). I can see in the future some apparel and non-Soulfrost related artwork by me as well.

But what’s in the shop right now?

Soulfrost's 'Repeat' and 'Face' Prints

Repeat Print and Face Print. Both really showcasing my logos for Soulfrost.

What’s coming in the near future?

More Prints and offering my music at high quality (don’t worry I’ll always have lower quality for free).

Why are you doing this?

I’ve always wanted to have my own web shop since I started this music thing. This is just for me really. The quality of my products have to meet my exceptions or I won’t release it, it’s important to me and I know others will appreciate to know that. I don’t expect anything to happen other than this being a place to release my work.

For a limited time I have a Grand Opening Sale going on to celebrate.. well the opening of the shop.. the sale gives you 15% off.

Hey I had fun on thursday (8th) night. Tried a bunch of new tracks and gear that night. Playing live really shows you what works what doesn’t! I think I might make a lengthy post on my experiences with all the gear I’ve gone through and what my next step will be.

Hopefully more photos will surface but heres a couple from the night.

Soulfrost's New Music Player

I have been working quite hard on on this site. Most of the work is on the back end making things more organized, cleaned up and easier to update. Somethings were not lining up correctly are now and I have updated the music player. Big difference now is that it estimates the length of the tracks correctly now before it was cutting them off. Visually I took a step back and took what was good from the last design and added something more to make it even better. Quite happy with it almost.

If you know flash really well and know what the solution is to this problem I’m about to explain please contact me or leave a comment. When you browser zoom in the player splits and for the life of me I can’t seem to see how to stop it from doing that. It’s not 9-Slice option, I’m sure it’s something simple that I’m overlooking.

Glimpse into Soulfrost's Studio

Glimpse into Soulfrost's Studio

I have been meaning to do this update for a little while now but I have been too busy.

I have quite a lot of projects on the go (more than usual). I’ll be updating this site soon with various tweaks and also I have another section of the site coming soon. I will go into more detail when the time is right.

I showed this girl my website she asked “oh is this a online magazine thing?”, first thought that entered into my mind was what the hell. No I am not trying to do a online magazine but I can see how she got that impression. So I thought about this and realizing that I can’t attempt to compete with certain blogs and be creatively productive at the same time. I need to step back and rethink how I want to approach the blog. Most likely more posts like this other than oh this is cool I will post this on my blog unless I totally dig something.

More on the music front I finally feel like I have found the right set up for me to play live. For a couple years I have been going through a lot of gear. It’s kind of funny looking back how much money I’ve wasted doing it but now I know right? And started to actively look for gigs again!

Now I don’t have to worry about gear much these days I can start focusing working on new tunes. For some reason every time I felt I wanted to make some music I ended up researching hardware and trying to figure out what would work. That’s done with so the plan is to get a album done this year and start touring.

Now I need you to go down to Brooklyn and get me a sugar cookie.

Would you stand in line for this? I wouldn’t. Where does an artist go from here? I know I should be keen to keep on making better art but maybe all of this networking business that I feel like I have to do is ultimately stopping my creativity. I remember a time where I could sit down and not worry to much and just let the process happen. I feel like I’m close to getting back there but I’m not quite there. You put in so much with little return. Other than putting up sites and networking them with this site and with each other how do you let people know you exist? Do I want everyone to know I exist? It’s a really odd situation I find myself thinking back and forth. Oh this track/print is good I should not share it just in case for something and that something I have no idea.

I have been watching Moby interviews and music videos tonight and he brings up a point of being free of the idea of your art for something. It reminded me of something I saw on TV I think it was Bono from U2 saying along the lines ‘if you don’t want to have your art in other peoples hands why are you even an artist? isn’t that the whole point is to have your tunes be heard?’. And I completely agree with that, thats why let people listen to full tracks and download them.

I feel this way I think because I’m reaching a point of my little check list of things I know I should get done is getting near the end and I’m uncertain where things go from there. From what I have been listening to from Moby he doesn’t know and he still doesn’t everything has happen by surprise.
